ABOUT US
The Côté Literary Group evolved out of the writing career of its founder and current Editor-in-Chief, Richard N. Côté. After majoring in political science and journalism at Butler University, Dick served six years with the United States Air Force in California, Vietnam, and Germany. He spent the 1970s and 1980s doing scholarly writing in the fields of biography and social history, specializing in 19th-century Southern plantation life and culture. In the last several years, Côté has been the author of three nationally-successful books: Mary's World: Love, War, and Family Ties in Nineteenth-century Charleston, The Redneck Riviera, and Theodosia Burr Alston: Portrait of a Prodigy, all published and distributed nationwide by Corinthian Books.
Seeking a change of pace and subjects, he turned to commercial writing in the early 1990s, specializing in ghostwriting true-life stories. His first major commercial writing coup came in 1995, when National Press Books sent him to Moscow to work with Edward Lee Howard, accused by the FBI of spying for the Russians. The resulting book, SAFE HOUSE: The Compelling Memoir Of The Only CIA Spy To Seek Asylum In Russia, debuted to good reviews the same year. Since then he has written, ghostwritten, or edited approximately forty books or manuscripts. In service of his U.S. and foreign clients, he has undertaken writing assignments in Bermuda, Brazil, England, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Paraguay, Russia, Scotland, and the United Arab Emirates.
In 1995 he started bringing in other skilled writers and editors to assist him. In 1999 he organized the The Côté Literary Group, a sophisticated literary services firm offering a complete package of writing, ghostwriting, screenwriting, editing, publishing, publicity, and distribution services. The firm currently has a staff of fifteen writers, editors, and publishing specialists. It currently produces about twenty-five manuscripts, books, and screenplays each year.
